We are officially starting the IVF process! After a failed IUI in September 2018, we began to lose hope… The pain was unreal as we endured many pregnancy announcements or baby milestones around us. The holidays were rough and we were forced to bring in the new year without success (again).
After I started posting about our infertility struggles on Instagram, a clinic kept engaging with my posts. Eventually, it peaked my interest and I looked at their profile. They were local! I sent them a message asking about more info about their IVF procedure. To be honest, we couldn’t go through with IVF at our current clinic because of costs. Why does IVF have to be so darn expensive?!
The clinic messaged me back on Instagram and let me know their average price… which was much lower than the clinic we were seeing! So I made the appointment.
Needless to say, the new doctor was incredible and we fell in love instantly! He sat down with us and took the time to listen to our story, asked us questions about our history, and was just overall warmer to us. I felt at home and had a gut feeling that this is where we needed to be.
I’ve been on Keto since December 2018 and have been losing weight to prepare for our fertility journey. To be honest, a lot of the motivation was so I could look cute while pregnant (ha!) but there were other reasons for it, which I’ll eventually explain. In less than 3 months I have lost 33lbs! I’m still losing, and I have a weight loss goal for the end of this month (and before June!).
The other reason I’ve been losing weight is for reproductive health and to ensure a successful IVF cycle. I have been told my egg reserve, hormone levels, tubes, and uterus are all 100% healthy – so I’m not too concerned. Since we’re dealing with Male Factor Infertility, I think we have a great shot at a successful IVF cycle.
I’m beyond excited to blog and vlog our IVF journey! I know when we were going through our IUI, I would search high and low for any YouTube channel or blog who documented their experience… they helped me, so I want to do the same for another couple.
Follow along with us as we embark on this scary, new, exciting adventure!
